Energy Saving Power Tools

Visit any big box home store and it appears, this summer, power saving power tools are all the rage. Replacing their gas powered counterparts, these battery or propane operated lawn maintenance tools run on alternative energy sources that both lower emissions and boast less maintenance.

Some of this year's highlights include:

Ariens Co. of Brillion, Wis., has unveiled the $3,299 "AMP Rider" electric-motor mower, run by rechargeable lead-acid batteries and never needs an oil-change

Valley City, Ohio-based MTD Products Inc.'s Troy-Bilt brand has a $169 seven-pound lithium-ion battery trimmer that can run up to 45 minutes on a single charge.

No more annoying pumping with Frontgate's battery-powered sprayer that will disperse 18 gallons of liquid per single battery charge.

People-powered push mowers are returning with a vengeance. They have similar designs, but now promise to be quieter, easier to maneuver and lightweight. Some even include attachments for grass catchers.

Earthwise makes a cordless electric mower that provides the ease of operation of an electric mower without the cord. The rechargeable 24 V battery lasts up to 45 minutes. Their cordless chainsaw still requires oil, but it runs on an 18 volt NiCad battery that is compatible with other Earthwise 18 volt tools.

The RoboMower, running anywhere from $1000 to $3000 is a true energy saving device cutting back on both fuel and people power.

Everyone has cordless power tools, but the most efficient are the ones that share a single 18V battery. This means you can use the same battery for all your lawn tools.

One of the most extensive versions of this is offered by Black & Decker who admits to having a bigger selection of cordless trimmers than the corded version. With one 18 V battery you can charge all your Black & Decker battery-operated tools which include surface sweepers, chainsaw, lopper, hedge trimmer, grass trimmer, cultivator, pruning saw, and power scrubber. All of these products boast: " No pull cords. No trips to the gas station. No gas or oil to mix. No gas to store or spill. No fumes. No tune-ups or maintenance."

According to Joe Newland, Black & Decker's product manager for outdoor products. "There are tradeoffs, and what you lose in power, you gain in convenience and weight." He mentions that these products are particularly popular with female users. "They don't want to start with filling it. They just want to use it."

>From the numbers, the public is loving these products, and as they become more widespread, prices are coming down. Even the cost of solar lighting and batteries have seen large reductions from a few years ago. Home Depot reported 2008 a record year for non-gas outdoor power equipment. In addition to the regular electric and battery operated mowers, Home Depot sells a version that runs on a 16.4 ounce propane container.

Even heavy duty, gas tool manufacturers are jumping on the "alternative energy" bandwagon. Husqvarna has just unveiled a soil cultivator for $899 that runs off one large lead-acid battery. They have also introduced an "EcoSmart" campaign featuring similar products including their manual push mower and solar-battery robot "Automower".

The government is supporting this new, cleaner technology and incentives are being reviewed that would give consumers a 25% tax credit (up to $1000) toward their purchase of eco friendly lawn, garden or forestry power tools. In addition, the Environmental Protection Agency issued new rules that require manufacturers to reduce emissions from new lawn and garden equipment by 35% in the next few years. If these companies want to remain in business, they have to start examining new, alternative forms of energy.

Currently Husqvarna is testing a high-powered, battery push mower; and Arien plans to introduce a battery-powered snowblower this winter. However the general consensus in the industry is one of caution. No one is quick to unveil a product that may not have the power to do the job. "It's one of those things where we want to be careful," says Roger Phelps, Stihl's promotional communications manager. "One thing customers are demanding is for performance to still be there. It's cool to have a battery-operated mower, but if it only gets halfway across the yard, that's not very cool."

One for Ten Cabin Fever in Haines Alaska

Mountains, massive piles of rock and earth shaped by glaciers, erosion, and weather; can conjure feelings of awe, enlightenment and fear in people. For millions of years weather systems have shed soft crystals of snow on these massive peaks, and now we stand as mere specs in the history of these giants, aloft on their high ridgelines. As we descend a sensation secretes from our brains pulsing throughout our bodies as adrenaline, sculpting our passion to return to the top of these towering peaks over and over again.

Pursuing their love for the mountains, Jason Shutz, Bill Buchbauer, Annie Fast, Chris Ankeny and Tom Routh headed for southeast Alaska in late April Haines, Alaska to be exact. Haines has been moderately popular among the ski and snowboard film crews for years, but still contains plenty of pristine wilderness only attainable by glacier plane and split board. The posse, made up of Montanans, headed to Haines for an affordable backcountry trip aboard Cessna ski planes. They were armed with split boards, mountaineering gear, and winter camping equipment. During the first two weeks of April the group bagged a lot of great sunny days up on the glaciers, split boarding new lines and eying up lines for next year.

After a full day of Air Travel from Montana I arrived in Haines, Alaska aboard a single engine Cessna. Haines is positioned at the North end of Alaska's Inside Passage and at the Northern end of America's longest Fjord. The town shares its border with 20 million acres of protected wilderness: Glacier Bay National Park is 25 miles by air, and Canada's Kluane National Park and Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Park are just up the road. A Bald Eagle Preserve is also just outside of Haines giving the area an amazing collection of dramatic scenery and plethora of wildlife.

Day Two of my trip was like 99% of Alaska days: it rained. The Montana posse that I came to hook up with spent the day recuperating from a 4-day backcountry camping /split-boarding trip. I sat and listened to spook stories about new uncharted areas with sketchy snow pack, hairball plane flights onto glaciers, and all the great runs in between. Make no mistake; no matter where you ride at home, Alaska is bigger. Everything in AK is big: the mountains, the fish, the wildlife, the trees, everything is just so damn gigantic. The air was getting cold and it was snowing on the peaks; our conversations turned to the next mission once the sun broke again and the stoke began to build among us.

The rain continued for the next eight days with little sign of the sun. Chris, Annie, and Tom went home leaving Jason, Bill, and I to wait for the sun. Pool, darts, scrabble, ping-pong, eating, reading, beer, coffee, beer, coffee, fishing, hiking, and hacky sack became the motion of the days. Cabin fever can invoke some strangeness in people and after eight days of rain and no riding; the walls were closing in I can't take it, I can't take it. Freaking out and pounding your head on the wall is no way to deal with it, sowe ran around in the rain for a few hours. But that was a bad idea. We ate again even through we'd eaten an hour ago, and two hours before that. We were beginning to lose our minds and we only had two days left; The northern lights are out that evening and it was clear would it be clear in the morning? That was the question.

We talked about just taking some heli runs if the sun did shine because your chances of getting to fly in the heli in moderate light is better than it is in the ski planes. The ski plane pilots need very clear days in order to see the ever-changing landscape that they are landing on, where with a helicopter you don't need a runway to take off and land. Besides after you land in a plane you usually still have to hike up to the top of your line. The drawback was that there was only one helicopter operating in town and there were six groups wanting to go out. We hoped that the Men's Journal Adventure Team which was there with a group of ski racers and ski legends would go for their main objective a peak on the coast; which would mean a lot less of a cluster getting onto the heli.

With the original plan for some glacier plane trips into Glacier Bay National Park for split boarding and a winter camp squashed by the weather, and the chance to heli jaded by the adventure boy team, the drinking waged on and on. The locals say that you can drink it blue.

Well, after nine days of drinking, the sun finally shone, and we headed to the heli at 33 mile for day ten, the last day in Haines. Being on the not so special list, we finally got out at around 4:00pm for two runs with our ultra-cool guide Jim: the first was on "Deflowered" and the second on "Hangover Helper" short runs in Alaska standards, but pretty damn big anywhere else. The snow was blower, lots of new snow from the eight days of precipitation and just enough cold air to keep it light and fluffy late in the day. All of a sudden it was 7pm and we had to haul ass to catch the ferry. Cramming all of our stuff, the three of us, and Jason's dog Chewe into the helicopter pilot's 1970's Subaru was a bold task, but we got it done; and off to Juneau we went to catch the plane home.

After nine down days I was leaving Alaska 1 for 10. Two long powder runs in the bag made for a relaxing ride to Juneau on the ferry, and many daydreams longing for more on the plane ride home.

Alaska is a land of adventure. You don't have to be loaded to ride high powdery peaks in Alaska; you just have to have solid backcountry knowledge, glacial travel experience, and knowledge of the local mountains. Three people can catch a ride on a glacier plane (Drake Olson / Earth Center Adventures ( 907- 723-9475) at one time and depending how far you go into the mountains, you can expect to pay about $300 each for the roundtrip in and out. Once you're there you can explore via split board for the day or camp out for as long as you like; just remember tent fever comes on a lot quicker than cabin fever!

Carbon Monoxide Ranges - How A good deal is as well Very much?

What is carbon monoxide?

Carbon monoxide or CO is a colorless, odorless and tasteless fuel. Due to this point, it is truly challenging to detect the presence of CO in your setting. It is, but, very important that the CO ranges in your residence are cautiously monitored. Even at comparatively very low amounts, CO is poisonous due to the fact that it rapidly accumulates in the blood therefore depleting its power to carry oxygen. Intense situations of CO poisoning end result in demise.

The place does carbon monoxide arrive from?

CO is a commonplace by item of the combustion of fossil fuels. When adequately set up and taken care of, most fuel burning equipment (all natural gas, propane or oil) will manufacture insignificant quantities of CO.

At what degree does carbon monoxide grow to be toxic?

For healthful older people, CO becomes poisonous when it reaches a level higher than 50 ppm (areas for each million) with constant coverage more than an 8 hour time period.. When the degree of CO gets to be greater than that, a human being will undergo from signs or symptoms of coverage. Gentle exposure more than a very few several hours (a CO level between 70 ppm and 100 ppm) contain flu-like warning signs such as headaches, sore eyes and a runny nose. Medium coverage (a CO degree concerning 150 ppm to 300 ppm) will develop dizziness, drowsiness and vomiting. Intense exposure (a CO degree of 400 ppm and greater) will result in unconsciousness, brain damage and demise.

How to dodge carbon monoxide poisoning

  • have a qualified technician install and consistently examine all fuel burning appliances
  • on a regular basis inspect fireplaces and chimneys to insure accurate ventilation
  • practically never use a gas or charcoal barbeque indoors
  • never start off a automotive or gasoline operate lawnmower or snow blower in a closed garage.
  • install a carbon monoxide detector in your property.

Smart fixes for big problems

I KNOW THAT SPRING IS Last of all Upon US on the grounds that my wife has started off organizing her vegetable gar, den. The backyard, like the start out of baseball season and the audio of lawn mowers as an alternative of snow blowers, is a confident signal of lengthier days and warmer evenings.

The other certain signal, unfortunately, is the seemingly limitless news reviews of increased ed budget cuts, coupled with tuition hikes at equally public and personal institutions across the country. In all, 43 states have done significant cuts to their increased schooling budgets, according to the Center on Funds and Policy Priorities (www.cbpp.org).

Colleges and universities--and students--are paying out the price, and there won't appear to be to be a way out.

The University of Arizona, for example, wants to counteract state funding cuts by raising tuition and fees by $one,790 following yr, a 22 % hike. The price range proposed by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer would also cut the state's funding to Maricopa County group schools by $38.four million, or 85 percent.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbert has proposed dramatic cuts to education, this includes reducing $625 million, or about 50 %, of funding meant for 14 state-owned universities, as perfectly as Temple University, Penn State, Lincoln University, and the University of Pittsburgh.

In Washington State, college and university leaders had been informed they would face $600 million in cuts in the up coming two a long time--about 50 percent their prior funding--and that they should get ready for an more $180 million in cuts if tax earnings doesn't develop. Either way, officials at the University of Washington predict tuition will have to enhance increased than the eleven % at this time proposed.

Florida college students will have to wonder exactly where the state's priorities lie when they go through that Governor Rick Scott's proposed finances cuts $three.3 billion from all round training funding. Meanwhile, lawmakers want state funds to establish golf programs and motels--in just about every of the 5 state parks. This is in a state that presently has alot more golf courses--more than one,000--than any other state.

Nevertheless, there are some hopefuls signs.

Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee has proposed a spending budget that in reality grows greater training funding by $10 million. It would not shut the funding gap, but it will allow hold back tuition improves.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he will reject tuition increases in the state's educational institutions. First-rate news for households certainly, but the schools are doing work by way of a 30 % funding reduction from the past three several years.

And in Tennessee, officials at The University of the South, claimed they would minimize its $46,000 sticker total price by ten percent upcoming 12 months, to end what it labeled as the "tuition sport." Accurate, these are Band-Aids on gaping wounds. But until eventually the economic climate improves, these measures and many others like them could very well be the preferred we can assume.

Spring Residence Tasks in Northern New England

As I sit on a airplane in route from Chicago to Boston this night, I fully grasp I have been staring out into the dark abyss contemplating the arrival of spring. Spring is a time of anticipation and renewed everyday life. A time when the snow eventually abates and the Robins return to rebuild their nests. And a time when Tulips and Daffodils emerge from the ground and bloom, if ever before so briefly. It is also a time for the voracious Black Fly that we northern dwellers know only also nicely. For me, in spite of this, it is a time to shift into a bigger gear there are outdoor projects that have accumulated in excess of the winter season months and there is customary spring tasks that each and every home owner is compelled to do.

There are two foremost problems I debate as I compile my spring To-Do listing: What to do and when to do it?

As at all times with a non-vinyl sided dwelling, there is painting. Around the decades, I have come to the conclusion it is preferred to paint a portion of the home every year 1 year the clapboards, an additional yr the trim, and it's possible in the third yr the shutters. I am confident the skilled painter would beg to vary with my information, but hey, not all of us can justify the skilled painter each three-five many years, nor can we dedicate an complete week or two of our spring painting the total dwelling. I have seen it perfect to do the spring painting as quickly as the no matter whether will get above 50 degrees. Any sooner, it is also cold for the paint. Any later on, and 1 has to contend with the other flying insect, the hornet.

One more valuable profession, but not so considerable in energy, is preparing the lawn for the spring rains. 1st there is the raking. Then there is the application of the foremost stage of the four-stage fertilizer practice, you know, the 1 that halts the Crab grass in July and August. Regularly every last other year there is the added process of spreading the pest manage to reduce grubs and moles. Based mostly on merchandise suggestions and when I in reality have time, I do these duties in mid Will probably.

For all those of us with bountiful winter snowfalls, a wide range of of us have the exceptional project of correcting or replacing our mailboxes for hopefully the last time, or at least for the future 12 months. This is mainly an aggravating task as we invest a lot of the time performing it, cussing underneath our breath the snow plow operator that we know had enjoyment wiping out our mailbox.

Then there is the garden. I am not convinced why I still bother. Perhaps it is because of to a memory of my youth, when I put in two summers operating on a farm. It might also be some innate desire to see some thing develop from next to nothing, that I had a portion in. I imagine it is the latter, but regardless, every single April I go out and till, fertilizer and lime the soil, although I sacrifice my entire body to the Black flies. By May I commence to plant the Peas, Carrots and Onions. By June I plant the Tomatoes, Peppers and Squash. And by July, I am at war with the local Wood Chuck.

Last but not least, there is the modifying of the machine guards storing the snow blower away and planning the lawn mower, or in my case lawn mowers. I have the sit-down a person for the essential training course, and a drive a single for the dessert. As my father-in-law usually insists, sharpen the blades previous to the get started of the cutting year or so and then a few of a great deal more occasions throughout the summertime. Perfectly, currently being non-retired, I am pleased sharpening them one time previous to the reducing season begins and I have yet to see any unwell side effects.

I see the lights of Boston approaching in the distance. My flight is practically over still my spring listing is practically complete. I am positive I have missed a couple of items, but my spouse will surely remind me. I look forward to the warmth of spring, but as I appear down at my checklist, I consider, Ill just sit back again and savor the closing weeks of winter.

Winterize Your Roof

Even with a Dallas or Forth Worthy of roof, youll require to be concerned about snow and ice, as clearly as the changing temperatures. It doesnt snow only in the northern states like Michigan and Wisconsin, Texas will get snow and ice as very well. Through the winter months, temperatures fluctuate between above and below freezing temperatures. This is no great for the roofing material this kind of as shingles and flashings considering they will compress and grow with the shifting temperature. This can result in the elements to end up being reduce, warped, or even cracked.

As outlined, snow and ice are also problems for roofs. Ice can weigh down gutters, inducing them to break and fall off. Melting snow can develop ice dams (buildup of ice and water that can get the job done its way beneath roofing product) and bring about stains, leaks, and even structural injury. To avert hurt versus the winter season temperatures and aspects, there are some points you can do to winterize your property. Right here are a several of the issues you can do.

The 1st matter youre heading to want to safeguard your roof against are ice dams. They bring about the most injury, and are the most effort to get ready for. Ice dams are formed when snow on the roof is melted by warmth escaping from the attic, the melting snow trickles down the roof where by it hits a chilly spot and refreezes. This new ice builds up as considerably more h2o is additional to it, and it gets in under shingles and nails and warps the materials underneath.

There are two matters you can do to preserve towards this. The initial in earning sure your attic is well insulated. This retains the warmth in the attic so the snow exterior doesnt melt prematurely to commence the ice dam cycle. The other is ventilating your attic. You can do this by incorporating constant soffit vents and continuous ridge vents. Ridge vents leads to the warm air within the attic to be directed outward from the top of the attic and away from the home so that the snow isnt melted by it. Soffit vents pull cool air in by means of the bottom of the attic so chilly spots are less likely to be shaped. Installing this variety of ventilation model can be challenging and left to the specialists. Make confident to have your area Dallas or Fort Value roofing repair company arrive out to do this instillation.

You would likely be considering about putting in warmth tape to your roof. Though this is a viable remedy to stopping ice and snow construct-up on your roof, you should really be cautious in working with and setting up it (heat tape has been recognised to warmth up to these a diploma that it can and has created home fires). Make sure you actually buy a great superior quality product, in this circumstance you basically will get what you spend for. Be watchful putting in it so that you dont puncture your roofing material.

When clearing snow from your roof, use a shovel. Dont use a snow blower as the blades can injury the shingles. And do not ever use an ice pick to get rid of ice!

And lastly, get treatment of your gutters. Use a gutter guard to avoid ice from developing up within, as the entry bodyweight could break it.

Effective Snow Removal

There are many known ways to remove snow and ice from your driveway, but the safest and most effective way is mechanically, whether it be a snow shovel, snow plow or snow blower. I know everyone is wanting some kind of magical potion and I will get to those, but unfortunately they are not as safe to use on your concrete and landscaping as the mechanically means of removal.

The secret to effective snow removal, for the most part, is limiting compaction and removing it as quickly as possible. Have you ever noticed once you get home from work, after you have driven up and down your driveway several times, the snow is much harder to remove where you drove on it. The reason is when you drive on snow you are compacting it creating friction, or heat, that initiates the melting process. Because the temperatures or ground temperatures are still below freezing, the snow refreezes and bonds to your driveway, thus making it more difficult to mechanically remove. So, the easiest way to make mechanical snow removal effective is to limit the foot and vehicular traffic on the areas you want to remove snow.

So let's be real! Most of us don't get a chance to remove any snow until after we have driven and walked on it. So now we need to mechanically remove all the snow we can. What is left is snow that has melted, refroze and bonded to your driveway or walkway. Now we use our magic potion, deicers. Apply an effectiveamount of deicer to only the snow packed and icy areas, let the magic potion work until it breaks the bond between the snow and your driveway. Once this bond is broken, immediately remove the snow pack and icy areas with a snow shovel. The key word is "immediately". You don't want these areas to start melting and then refreeze because you will be faced with the same problem tomorrow.

Effects of Deicers: This brings us to the big question, "What Are the Effects of Deicers on My Driveway"? Most of us think that deicers chemically cause our concrete to deteriorate. The truth is, the damage occurs when moisture saturates the upper layers of your concrete and goes thru freeze/thaw cycles. Because water expands approximately 9% when it freezes, it can cause concrete scaling to driveways and walkways that are not poured to withstand these freeze/thaw cycles. Scaling is where the surface of the concrete flakes off. Deicers increase the frequency of the freeze/thaw cycles thus causing improperly poured concrete to scale.

Understanding Deicers: There are many types of deicers and each has a practical lowest temperature limit that it is effective at. This is important, the higher the practical temperature of the deicer, the more freeze/thaw cycles your concrete will potentially be exposed to. For example, if sodium chloride (salt or halite) has a practical temperature of 20 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning it is only effective above 20 degrees, and the temperature falls below 20 degrees, then the salt brine will freeze. On the other hand calcium chloride has a practical temperature of -25 degrees, so it is effective and the brine won't freeze until temperatures drops below -25 degrees reducing the odds of a freeze/thaw cycle.

Below is a table describing 3 of the most used deicers and their lowest practical temperature.

-Practical Temperature of Common Deicers

-Sodium Chloride (Salt) = +20 degrees Fahrenheit

-Magnesium Chloride = +5 degrees Fahrenheit

-Calcium Chloride = -25 degrees Fahrenheit

It is important to note that these practical temperatures are only effective 30 minutes to an hour after application. As the snow and ice melt, the brine becomes weaker and weaker, increasing the practical temperature.

Remember....Limit the traffic on your driveway/walkway, mechanically remove all the snow you can, apply a deicer to snow packed/icy areas and clean these areas shortly thereafter. This will protect your driveway and keep everyone safe.

Which Snow Blower is Right For You?

If there's one thing people hate about winter, it's shoveling the driveway. Clearing snow and ice from driveways and sidewalks is hard work but doing it with a snow blower will make your job much easier than shoveling.

The type of snow blower you choose will depend on whether your driveway is gravel or paved, large or small, flat or hilly, as well as the severity of your winters. Snow blowers come in three basic designs.

1. Two-Stage Gas Snow Blowers

They are larger and can clear an area faster, with clearing widths up to 30 inches, than single-stage models. Two Stage gas snow blowers have driven wheels, a snow-gathering auger, and an impeller to help disperse snow.

2. Single-Stage Gas Snow Blowers

They are smaller (21-inch clearing width for most) than two-stage models and take longer to clear a given area. Single stage gas snow blowers are lighter to push and turn, are less expensive, and store in less space that two-stage models.

They rely on a rubber-tipped auger alone to gather snow, disperse it, and help propel the machine.

3. Single-Stage Electric Snow Blowers

They are even smaller (11 to 18-inch clearing width) than single stage gas models.

Single stage electric snow blowers cost even less and are easier still to handle and store than single stage gas models.

General Rule of Thumb

For heavy annual snowfall (over 12"), you will need a larger engine to tackle the job and a larger intake area to clear more snow quickly. Two-stage models are recommended for medium (6'-12") to heavy snow conditions, while single stage model should be sufficient for light snowfall (under 6").

5 Things You Should Know About Spring & Summer Lawn Care

Finally, it's that wonderful time of year here in Canada, when we can say with relative certainty that the snow is long gone. Of course that means it's time to turn our thoughts from snow blowers to lawn mowers and spring and summer lawn care . So if the melted snow has revealed a lawn that is less than ideal, here are five important things you should know about Spring & Summer lawn care , from your neighbourhood experts at GreenLawn.

1. Timing is Everything

If your lawn is looking a little sparse or if your dog's winter bathroom breaks have resulted into several dead spots, you might be tempted to over seed this spring. It's an understandable thought, but the fact is unless the situation is dire, over seeding really shouldn't be part of your springtime lawn care. Fall is the ideal time to over seed your lawn because it gives the new grass a chance to grow without having to compete with invading weeds.

2. Raking Isn't Just for Fall Leaves

Prior to applying lawn fertilizer , raking and thatch removal are vital parts of your springtime lawn care regimen. So if you haven't already, grab your rake and clear any leftover winter debris from your lawn. Then give it a more thorough raking to remove any thatch. Thatch is a dry, light brown layer of stems and roots that develops between your lawn and the soil. Because thatch can increase insect and disease problems, you'll want to be sure to have it taken care of.

3. Apply the Right Lawn Fertilizer at the Right Time

Lawns fertilizers should be applied at specific intervals, as part of a seasonal fertilization program, however; homeowners must be careful to add the right amount at the right time. Because, while adding spring lawn fertilizer is an important part of springtime lawn care, adding too much spring lawn fertilizer can actually cause weed growth and disease. In terms of applying fertilizers during the summer season, adding lawn fertilizer too late in the season will encourage growth at a time when grass should be slowing its growth in preparation for winter.

In addition to timing, when adding lawn fertilizer as part of your lawn care program it's very important to use the right kind of fertilizer. When staring down aisles of different fertilizers; choosing the right fertilizer can seem a little daunting. Make sure you read the labels carefully and get to know the needs of your lawn. To be 100% sure that your lawn receives the right care at the right time, contact a professional lawn care service like your local GreenLawn.

4. Yes, You Can Help Prevent Weed Growth

While it may be practically impossible to prevent weed seeds from finding their way into your lawn, there are things you can do to help make your lawn an unfavourable place for them to grow. Lawn aeration, adjusting fertilizing schedules and even changing the height of your mower blade can all play a part in discouraging weed growth. Of course, if weeds continue to be a problem, the best thing you can do is to call your local GreenLawn lawn care specialists for professional weed control help.

5. Hiring a Lawn Care Service Can be Affordable

If you've been looking over at your neighbour's lawn and thinking the grass really is greener on the other side, take comfort in knowing that you can have a healthy, beautiful lawn this summer too. Lawn care really is affordable! Your local GreenLawn can give your lawn the love it deserves with lawn care service such as fertilization, weed control, pest control and more, and all at a price you can afford. So this year, instead of worrying about the basics of lawn fertilization or hunting dandelions, call on the professionals, sit back and enjoy the results.
